Does anyone know this 1977 53MY? Originally from Key Largo, Florida and now located in Marion, MA.

http://www.st.nmfs.noaa.gov/pls/webpls/cgv_pkg.vessel_id_list?vessel_id_in=583779
Trying to find which marina in FL she was located at, who has done previous work on her and insights by anyone who has happened to have boarded the vessel or past previous owners. PO is deceased and she was donated to the Academy by estate, so trying to track her maintenance and general history. Also, overall opinions from anyone who has seen her and general comments about the listing would be appreciated.

Prior to an Offer of Purchase and Professional Surveys, I would need to travel at some expense a considerable distance for an Initial Survey and sea trial of my own for this listing. Would experienced members offer advice to a first time big boat buyer like myself for this particular boat that would be in addition to:
Doug Shuman’s "53MY Initial Survey List", http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2683
And Genesis’ “Cold Start Test”, http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1498

Does anyone have good references or recommendations for Professional Surveyors in the Bedford/Marion, MA area for Hull, Mechanical & Engine Surveys? And a boatyard to service & prepare vessel for an intracontinental voyage (NY to Toronto)?

And finally, the Offer to Purchase Process….
Is there a really good form available, besides the brokers, that is detailed for filling in the blanks, that protects the buyer from items that the offer is subject to, such as surveys and also outlines how the deposit and balances are to be paid and to whom & when for the protection of both seller and buyer?

Sorry for the long post & multiple questions but research and preparation is important to me.

shes a beauty and at the price they were asking quite a steal even if there are some small issues

She looks like a well-maintained boat, rather plain in the interior, but has the centerline queen bed, which is desirable, and the standard layout as far as I can tell. What you can see in the photos looks clean and orderly.

You might ask BoatUS for a hull surveyor in the MA area, also you'll need an engine and genset survey. Etc etc etc

I don't think the price is particularly good; this is a 1977 boat and as such will need a certain amount of things inevitably, unless this is one of those very rare cases where you have a boat that was really maintained with everything done regardless of cost. 200K or near it is the high end of the scale on boats like the 53MY and this is an older version with 71s, not 92s. A lot of us would rather have 71s for all the reasons discussed on the HOF, but this is an older version and they haven't held their prices all that well.

Good luck, it looks like a nice boat, hope you can get a deal put together and the surveys you need etc.

This was posted somewhere else, the PO had an open checkbook when it came to the vessel I would be surprised if there were many issues at all I would call the maritime school and inquire about her before you spend money on a survey. I would think they would be somewhat honest about her.

Just because they are asking close to 200k doesnt mean thats what you have to pay for her ..

You might check BoatUS. I have not used their settlement services, but here is the link:

They have a purchase agreement available at no charge.

Ben I can help if you need. Call me 407-739-5450

Just to close off this thread....
I appreciate the responses, thank you.
I did put in an offer but they had accepted an offer the day before.
Told me my offer was preferred and if other purchaser did not follow through I am next in line.
But, the other purchaser did his hull & engine surveys and sea trial and sailed off with her.
:(
