I was looking at a 20 yr old sportfish boat with a friend and we realized that the flexible Air Cond ducts are all full of dirty fuzzy stuff mixed with (probably) diesel exhaust soot and maybe even some mildew. Short of ripping it all out and replacing it - is there any reasonably effective way to clean flexible duct?

You could try a chimney brush, they make different sizes that attach to a drill. Of course disconnect from blower so the debris does not get into the cage. I not sure how you got diesel soot in the A/C unit?

If that fuzzy stuff is fiberglass, I would not attempt a brush. Chimney brushes are made in small sizes for cleaning drier vents too. Use the handle to turn gently, but only if the duct has a smooth liner. I use one of these on my flexible drier vent on board as well as at the condo.

I'm told Fabreeze air freshener will kill some mold and such in ducts. I have used it in the condo and it may help some for odor.

In the same vane, has anyone ever had one of these air hoses get
impregnated with a smell that replacement cured?

I assume from station wagon effect and many hours of running with the aft door open.
Not my boat - someone else's.
