I would not touch it. A Fully submerged boat - even a Hatt - is a losing proposition. the salvage rights might be worth something but the boat itself is history. It's a shame.

We bought a sunk boat and fixed her up and although we spent as much redoing her as we could have bought one for, the knowledge gained was well worth it. I learned every system, did a whole AC & DC rewire and worked on the DDs. We did get lucky, the engines and transmissions were really pickled and that is the biggest factor in boats like these. For the right person this can be enjoyable.

I saw this one on the net last week or so, did not care for the hole in the bottom where the stabilizer was. however the rest of her looked ok. they did not know about mechanical condition. I would guess that if you could get this thing for 5k or so then it may make nice boat. engines possible replace or rebuild. throw away all soft materials and clean her out dry her out etc then see what you have. I think it would be a fun project but darn expensive.

Here's a good fixer-upper: Ebay item number 200023472291. It's a 48YF that has been hit by a barge. Mechanically its fine, but in need of major cabinetry and structural work. At least it runs, floats and has never been under water!

This is actually a 42LRC. It is mislabeled. It was on here last week adn I posted about it. That boat left from Bradenton on it's way to Maryland when it hit a rock in the inlet and pushed the Sabilizer fin through the bottom of the Hull. This vessel would need an incredible ammount of work to restore.

Hey Byron, Alex and I looked at the 48 in Gulfport last week and she didnt look TOO bad; Thought of you ( mini 58 ). I wouldve considered it but I'm buried in the biggie for now. Ive been in touch with a few NAs (naval architects) and am now trying to determine which end to start hackin' on :D We need to talk about those stabes. Boat will most likely go to Demopolis next week and be on the hard CLOSE to electric LOL.
Seiously, what is the construction schedule of the deckhouse sides?? Solid or cored etc. This'll be the project that brings about my demise, I'm sure !!
YMB / HT

Bill,

The decks are cored on these boats but the hulls are solid glass. I believe the houses are just thin glass (~1/4") with wood studs that interior paneling attatches to.

Give me a call and we'll chat about Demopolis schedule, etc.
