What should the plug look like in a properly burning engine. I get confused when reading plugs from different types of engines. 2 cycle jet ski engins are suposed to be a light brown. However I was reading the service manuel for my Harley and they say white plug, glossy brown means running too hot.

So with carburated 454's what should they look like.

I know how you feel because all the different information mixes into a mess in my head too. here is a bookmarked page from my computer. http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html

It has decent pictures and explanations.

I had to look this up when I got my motorcycle. It had been a long time for me
since working on engines without platinum or surface gap plugs.
