Another Gauge Question

I'm trying to confirm that the gauges are a single-sender design. I've got single senders, and I've got senders with two outputs. We're about ready to place an order for a full set with new senders, and this appears to be the last detail to settle to make sure the wiring will work.

Of course, the REAL final detail will be discovered when all of the parts arrive, but that's boating, isn't it?

If you're getting the Stewart-Warners you mentioned earlier, the gauges are all the same. The senders are different for single or dual station. Except for the tachs. I'm pretty sure they're the same either way.

The number of terminals is not in indication of single or dual station, it is those that are externally or internally grounded in the senders i deal with.

The single or dual station have a different internal resistance.

So does the original setup for dual stations use dual station senders or two single station senders (one for each station)?

I understand some boats are setup using a single sender for both gauges, while others use a sender for each station for redundancy.

On a 1972 43DC the senders were dual station, i.e. one sender for two gauges. The wiring diagram confirms that that is the original setup.

For pressures, an individual sender for each gauge is no big deal. For temperatures you have to have two threaded "holes" for senders that are both in an equally heated area...not so easy.

Ang dug up the wiring diagram, and indeed, it's one sender for each pair. The pressure sender has two outputs on it for the new gauges, so still one "hole".

So now I have a box full of gauges and senders and a new 32 to 12v converter on the way....time to go to work!
