Anemometer

For those of you that have an Anemometer installed, what brand and model are you running? Where is the vane/propeller mounted and where is your readout?

I installed a Lacrosse technology wireless on the boat that I run. It works well, and being wireless i didnt have to run wires. It also keep tracks of temps, dew point, pressure, etc I keep the display either up at the helm or in the saloon. Vane is mounted on one of the antennas

Well, i should say "it worked great" as the vane got broken by large hail 2 weeks ago near charleston

Interesting, as I have a Lacrosse unit outside my home, except for the rain gauge. I wondered if they were any better or worse than a Davis. They do seem to be lower cost (much?) than the Davis.

Works well, in all fairness i doubt any plastic vane would withstand large hail!

The LaCrosse units are great because a) they are cheap and b) you can get replacement parts for them cheap at their greatbigoutlet.com. The anemometer unit in my system went out after 4 years and I got a new one for less than 40 bucks. Their customer service is excellent too. Probably the best bang for a hundred bucks on the boat.

I have the Davis. It's mounted on the pole just under the anchor/nav lights. The readout is mounted in the pilothouse.
