I'm just glad I have some left over fuel from the generator so I can put in the snowblower. It's been a very strange week and looks like its only going to stranger.

Well hey, that the normal appearance of the neighborhood in some parts of MI, and that's not really lol...(?!)... He's got a 2 car garage and a boat. (I know, some may think that's in poor taste), but its really only an observation.

It gets better. Wait 'til you see how he's trying to save the outboard that drowned.

Anybody hear banjo music?

And I thought you were making an airboat!

EARTHQUAKE !!!! I guess I better stop watching the morning news.. Just heard there was a minor earthquake in NJ......
If things comes in threes...
1 Sandy
2. Earthquake
3. A NorEaster on it's way

And I thought you were making an airboat!

Come on dave. The props facing the wrong way. Its a windmill that he can anchor out in the bay and stop by twice a day to pick up the gasoline it makes.

I think it's the FLA tourism department at work...

It's been a trying couple weeks for sure. Hatt and the Topaz both were in the water minor damage on both nothing major. Seems many boats made out better in the water then on land. Now the NE. Gotta be my fault since I'm supposed to take the Hatt to the keys for the winter now another delay. No electric refrig, and freezer are mostly loaded so a trip down every day to run the generator since the inverter bank is weak. Change that out tomorrow finish fixing my fiberglass damage from a piling and HOPEFULLY get out of here next week early. That is if we don't have another weather issue. Like I sadi been a tough few weeks. Bill

Not sure it was the Guard or DEC, but somebody was running around the bay with an airboat on Saturday. Why? I don't know.

I like that idea.

Gasoline is getting as valuable 40 Y.O. Scotch around here. You don't want to spill a drop.

Most likely the CG. They were out scouting the bay and the inlet for off station buoys and hazards to navigation. Big surprise they reported several sunken vessels and a lot of debris.

Really no shit good thing we the government to tell us that. Many marinas are missing 10, 20 or more boats wonder where they could be

My buddys boat we use to bass fish every fall is floating just fine but between all the crap in the bay new sandbars and Inlets and then no gas it looks like its over

There are some marshy areas and small islands just north of my slip. There are boats scattered all over the place. Across from me there are boats wedged between houses. These aren't just 20ft center consoles, they're mostly mid 30's to mid 40's boats. I'm concerned they'll come loose in this storm and head my way. The yard next to me has so much debris, sunken boats and boats up on top of the pilings, another mess seems eminent.

What's the NorEaster doing up there???? Is it as bad as predicted ??

So far a rain/snow mix and breezy on the Island. As rsmith once said "These things always hit at night", and it's supposed to pick up tonight. We'll see. :p

“Winter Storm Athena”

So, the weather gurus are now naming storms other than tropical storms and hurricanes? I wonder if this was the idea of insurance companies so that they could lovingly wrap their arms around the policy language, “In the event of a named storm”... and nothing good follows that phrase in the eyes of a policyholder. It usually means either no coverage at all or a double deductible if you’ve chosen to purchase “named storm coverage” at an additional premium. I've never seen winter storms named before - is this a new trend or have I just been gone from the North so long that I've not noticed until now?

It's news to me. Are they calling this lovely nor'easter Athena or is that something else?

Changed to all snow here, BTW. Winds are still moderate.
