One question though.

How come democrats questioning republicans are activists and community minded but republican questioning democrats is sour grapes.

OK, I may as well fess up......... For almost 10 yrs now I have been getting a pay check from the Fed every month. I have yet to report to work and still they send my check monthly. I am so racked with guilt that I was thinking of sending it all back..........

be realistic, behind this site is a organization trying to market luxury yachts to highly educated people, who could possibly be turned by some of those posts. I assume this forum is a tool to market to those people.

I hate politics, but it's going to be the topic of conversation for quite some time since we've made history with this last election.

The hosts of this site are marketing parts and advice to owners of older yachts. They do not sell new hatts. If we are a bunch of crumudgeons they know we are their market. If we were a bunch of young Gen X kids they would change the format to bring them to the site.

having people on the site is a plus for them.

Actually deletions used to be common. Just ask Sparky. The speech has been much more free lately.

Like Walt, I also get a check from the government - two actually. One for retirement and one for the results of two bullet holes. I also have no plans to return either check and I consider myself totally entitled to both!

Re thread deletion:

Anybody can read this stuff. It's not a private verbal conversation; it's in writing! What was written by some of us would have gotten us fired by any company in existence and visited by folks in dark suits had we written the same info in a memo and publicly displayed it at work. Posting on the web is even more public than that!

So yes Threads of all type have disappeared over the years but only when there was a reason. Well almost all

The one's that disappeared yesterday were over due and showed both side's.
One side was not pretty and pissed off some members one being someone I consider a friend. Sometimes the best thing to do is bite your tongue even If you know it will hurt.

Ah come on Mike, threats against the President? I must have missed that one. I'm afraid all the PC crap that's been shoved down our throats is going to come back to haunt us when it comes time for anyone to criticize the new administration.

Can you imagine Obama taking the same type of criticism Dubya has without somebody yelling racism?

Mike and Walt you both served and earned the check by what you have previously posted. Take them with pride. I give my taxes to the government so they can pay our servicemen and women. You earned it. Even social security for those retiring is earned. You paid into it for years ( unless you just snuck into the country illegally but that is another discussion that might get deleted). No patriot will ever discount what our service men and women did or cry about paying them what they earned. I wish more people receiving the Government checks had earned them.

The "Woke Up This Morning..." (or something similar to that) thread is gone too. Actually, I was kind of surprised that they went on as long as they did. Some of them were pretty heated and things in print don't always come off as intended. But then again, as Brian pointed out, I remember the Freebird days so thread zapping doesn't seem so abnormal to me.
