Amperage of Blower Fan Fuse

Hello:

I need to know the amperage of the "automotive style" fuse for the blower in the aft head of my 53MY. If anyone knows this please post a reply.

I guess you have checked and determined that the blower does, in fact, use an automotive style fuse... Is that original? Our 53's blowers (both AC and DC) are all protected by breakers in the appropriate electrical panel. I realize I'm not answering your question - just want to be sure you weren't assuming it was fuse protected when perhaps it isn't. Don't mean to be insulting.

Hi Mike:

I have the fuse out. The blower wasn't blowing so I took the cover off and voila a blown fuse. Probably still need a new motor but what the heck worth a try with the fuse first.

Interesting to me that it uses a fuse. Wonder why our 1980 53 blowers don't have fuses but the later boat does? Maybe they decided it was safer to have a separate fuse at the blower as opposed to a circuit breaker at the panel. ?

Take a close look at the fuse, all fuses have their rating on them, unless of course the injfo has been removed.

My AC head blowers have fuses near the motor as well, they are in general "lights and outlets" circuits of a higher overall amperage , so the fuse is needed to protect the specific equipment. My AC engine room blowers have individual circuits and breakers. Engine room DC blowers have their own breakers.
