Does anyone know of a source for Airtex anchors? I have admired them on the rollers of Nordhavn's for some time and would like to look into the possibility of getting one for the boat, but I cannot seem to find a source. Google pulls up nothing. Any ideas?

THANKS!

I looked on the Nordhavn website and found Prime Fabrication Inc - check out under products - they have a range of stainless anchors - is that them?

Interesting! Actually after further research the company that I was looking for that supplies anchors for most of the Nordhavn's that I have looked at on Yachtworld is www.aritex.com.tw. Several of the ads have it spelled incorrectly as "Airtex", instead of the proper "Aritex", so this is why I was having trouble finding information. This is yet another example of how inaccurate the information on Yachtworld is.

Now I am curious as to how these "Prime Fabrication" anchors fall into the mix. Are they a copy of the Aritex, or vice-versa, or unrelated. Every Nordhavn description that I have read says Airtex or Aritex, with the exception of CQR's on some boats. Most boats in my size range have one or two 300lb Aritex plows. Wow. I am impressed! Those make the 110lb Bruce on my pulpit look like a dinghy anchor and also serves to convince me that I really do need a larger anchor.

After looking at the pricing on the "Prime Fabrication" link I am thinking that $9K is a bit steep for an anchor and I don't need stainless anyway. Anyone know of a nice lightly used galvanized anchor in the 200-300lb range? LOL

One of the big secrets to good anchor holding is to add a kellet at about the 50 ft level, suggest 25 lbs, this helps to keep that first 50ft along the bottom and reduces surge on the rode. On my 70ft, I have a 110 lb bruce with the 25 lb kelet I have anchored in 30 kts wind, 110 ft water and the kellet was totally buried, came up covered in mud as did the 50 ft of chain. Really big anchors are great, but, surge reduction is really critical.
