Air Filter Elements - cummins

I have 2 VT8-370's (turbo) in my hatt. I have been trying to find relacement air filters for these engines. I had my parts guy looking and he says that there are no available filter elements that he can find for the engines. Perhaps I have some kind of aftermarket air filter on each engine but I don't think so...they are large cylinders with caging around (same look as chicken wire) and 3 bolts holding on a faceplate, behind which I assume some kind of foam element is placed. One of my engines has a grey / black foam type element in the cage, the other does not....hence my concern. Any help or direction on where to look would be appreciated! thanks in advance,

I replaced my DD cans with generic fit K&N filters when I installed my Racor CCV's. K&N makes a seemingly infinate number of different filters. I'm sure you could find one to fit. They have complete specs on their website. Cost?--mine were about $50 each, so $200 total.

There are just supposed to be cages on those motors- no foam- per the Cummins mechanic who took care of my 70 53 for 23 years before I bought it-

no kidding...ok. I might still look into a K&N option if it can be done and done without restricting airflow. Thanks!

You may want to call Tony Athens At Seabord Marine in Oxnard , CA. He has made alot custom parts for Cummins that far exceed the manufacting specs and at reasonable prices as wel!!!! you can google the above name or call 800.200. BOAT.
