Assuming no radar arch or green house..... so, to the top of the fly bridge spray shield how much?

Asking with the Loop in mind.... (19')

You won't have a problem. They are around 16-17' to the top of the flybridge windshield.

Oscarvan, I see you are on the Trawler site lusting after a Hatt. Yeah thats good your getting around. This Hatt forum has been great for us and these people here provide a great source of information. You will enjoy the walk in engine rooms on the 53. I lusted after a 53 as well but then come back to reality and say our 43 is just fine and all we need. Good luck on the 53. You will not be dissapointed in a Hatteras. I'm thinking about doing the loop to but might keep it to the Downeast circle.

Original hatteras brochure date june 71 shows 17'2" to the top of optional flying bridge (windshield). Later boats with the ventury windshield maybe a few inches higher

Thanks, no problems in Chicago.....

NY Canal system will depend on the water levels..... will have to keep an eye on that. If everything is "normal" it looks like it will work. If it's a particularly wet year that may not work....

And, full tanks of course....

Yeah, and on Yachtforums and all over Google, Yachtworld etc etc. I've been through this process before with good results, in and out. (Catalina30 with an healthy engine dancing off it's mounts, and a 42 out of a foreclosure) Get psyched, read everything you can find, and ask a lot of good questions.

Like many we have champagne taste and a beer budget. So filtering through what's out there we found only a few brands left over in the end. And for the money the Hatts (especially the 53) seem to deliver the most living space in what was a well built boat. 9 knots is fine, 14 if I need to beat the clock once in a while.

If it hasn't been abused I can keep up with it. I am a tool guy and would not hesitate to pull an engine, put it on my flatbed trailer and take it to a DD shop. I don't want to , but I'm certainly not going to have to sit there crying in my soup held hostage by a yard with an eye watering bill..... Electrics too, installed a few AC's, replaced a few holding tanks and heads, and on and on.

So a basically healthy boat, with decent lungs, and a motivated seller. Cosmetics is my specialty. I do a mean roll and tip... lol.I have an industrial sewing machine and can make covers, bimini's etc etc. My wife is an impeccable decorator and will have that boat looking like a million bucks, just like the last one.

Yes, it takes a lot of hours, but that keeps me out of the bar. :p
