Hello all,

Are these air box drain check valves a specific DDC part or are they available generically?

In stainless even?

Regards, Bill

For what engine?

I believe there's more than one and the 8V 53 series doesn't use them .

Sorry - 6V92TA.

I've done my reading and want to get the remote "setup" installed.

What do you think? Can I get stainless "generic" check valves?

I would think not. They need to remain closed when there is pressure and open when you shut down. A standard check valve won't do that.

I'd just get the right ones from DD.

Thank you I'll do that.

I can mount them remotely from my understanding - or at least that is what I took from reading Karl's old threads on this subject.

And I'm looking to use the Walker Air Sep remote "crap" can assembly - which from my reading again is overkill but looks like the belts and braces way to go.

If you change your oil regularly, I doubt you need to do that. Just leave them going back into the oil pan.

Thank you Jim and everyone else for your replies.

I got them all off yesterday. They were all pretty gummy. They've cleaned up fine and I'll have them passivated again for protection.

The check valves behind the starter motors were horizontal, one was 10 degrees plus. I gotta say I'm not sure these were ever an easy maintenance item given their placement. It took me years to work out what you guys meant by slobber tubes, check valves and crap cans.

I'm remote locating them as four different check valves not doing the T thing. My hydraulics man is making up new hoses with stainless ends to go onto each block elbow. On the ends of the hoses i will place the check valves. I will stainless steel P clamp the check valves to the motors and attach to the bottom of the valve a stainless hose barb and hose to run to (for now) the plastic milk container. I want to see what comes out.

It will be an easy maintenance item now. Phew. Thank you all for your help and interest.
