Aft side vents - 48 Yachtfish

My wife and I were wrestling a new hump hose on the Port aft exhaust run today. That actually went OK - surprise!
While I was cleaning out that area I discovered a broken white 3in (?) "dryer style" vent hose looped back and forth beneath the fibreglass exhaust pipe.
It had a broken grate of some sort on the end that was below the exhaust piping, I assume to stop critters from moving in?
It seems to come up to the aft side vents. What is its purpose, where should it have run to, and does anyone know where I can find a replacement grill for that hose size (or will I be fabricating as one seems 3D printable) ?

that is a vent for under the cockpit, my hoses are not connected to anything, they are just hanging down nea trhe hull

OK, awesome, so just what I have left dangling into the hole with a critter stopper on it should be good then.
