So we have started our window replacement project. The plan is remove, fix any rot with appropriate products, new glass and reseal.

First window( starboard rear ) came out really easy. Small amount of rot in forward lower corner cleaned and repaired with epoxy.

Discovered that this side had been repaired before and they used 3/16 Afromosia. Job is so good you could not tell! We have a place on the port side that will need repair and wondering if anyone has a partial sheet you would sell. PM me with the details please.

We will be taking pictures as we go.

Regards,

Just buy the veneer and make your own. Plus the left over veneer is easy to store and you'll need it sometime.

Thanks Tim!!!!!

Sky, how does one attach the veneer? I have some but worry about future delamination/bubbles.

Buy the good contact adhesive, not the water based stuff. Apply a coat to the plywood and to the veneer backing. Let dry. Then the way I do it is like with Formica by putting some small shim boards between the veneer and the plywood. Pull them out one by one as you stick the veneer down starting at one end and working toward the other end. Smooth it out with a J roller. Sometimes the paper backed veneer will need two coats of contact cement. You can tell by how much gets sucked into the paper.

Sky, that was perfectly explained and the way I do it.
