Is there a "go to" wax or compound anyone can recommend? My hull is a little chalky as the PO hadn't waxed it in some time. I'm assuming, being that it is painted, that we need a very minimal cut and more of a polishing product?

Anything product that's tried and true?

Polishing is an act of removing material to expose underlying undamaged material. Wax is a temporary coating to protect the base material. The two things do not belong together in a single product and imo is a marketing gimmick that produces nether a good polishing effect nor a good protecting effect. Go to an autobody supply and purchase the top line 3M polishing compound and the top line 3M synthetic wax. Its going to be 3M's Perfectit line. Follow the directions.

Is Protectit a step beyond Finesse?

Awlcare for all grip.

Imron is a little different but should be done similarly.

Stick with the manufacturers recommendations if your not very familiar with the process and product

I have never had a problem with a 3M product. Ever. I use Collinite paste wax after cleaning up the finish with Perfect It or similar. I have not found AwlCare to hold up well. However, if I use AwlWash for routine cleanings during the season, the wax lasts longer.

Awesome, great information. I'm going to give the 3M a go.

Thank you!
