  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
The Cruisaire unit feeding the forward stateroom will run for 30 minutes or so and then shut down. It will blow cold or hot via reverse cycle but then stop. Has anyone experienced a similar situation and discovered a solution? I wonder if it is as simple as a re-charge for the this particular system.

Thanks

Is it popping the breaker? How much power is it pulling?

Is the compressor getting sufficient water via the seawater pump? Depending on how it is set up, the pump may be OK but the feeds to the individual compressors may be partially clogged with scale/whatever.

If it is not getting the full flow, it would overheat after a while and shut off. My Oberdorfer seawater pump was working fine but I decided to overhaul it anyway. When I pulled the pump cover the bronze impeller looked ok BUT when I compared it to the new bronze impeller in the rebuild kit, I realized that the vanes were eroded considerably and the pump could not have been moving near as much water as it was designed to do.

Assuming the water flow is good, and there are no obstructions in the air handler, it sounds like pressures may be low. Has the temprature dropped where you are recently? That will cause low pressure to be even lower.

To be certain getting some gauges on the system is the way to go.

Thanks Guys,

Yes in the Northeast the temperature has dropped. No, it is not the breaker. Will check the pump and report back.

Many thanks,
