Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Has anyone replaced their evaparators. Mine are the orginal --1971-- They say they 2 leak freon-at the flare fittings- Can they be fixed or should they be replaced...
Also have one bad compressor, and a 5 year New Cruisair unit.

Thanks, Ken

If leaking at the fitting, why not just tighten it up. of leak is a crack or corroded tube then replace the unit.

if you do not have flair wrench , can buy a set at auto parts store. also if there is room on the supply tube then it can be cut off and re flaired and re installed to the unit.

Re: AC - Cruisair Evaporator Replacement

There is a special sealant that you can use on the flare fittings. The rest can be soldered providing its not in an exchanger core. My evaps are 1973 vintage and working fine.
