THe AC panel ammeter has failed on my 120 panel. I have 30 amp service and further inspection on the inside of the AC cabinet shows a large sand colored donut that appears to be part of the gauge, apparently around the main power source wires from the Shorepower inlet to measure amperage.
Question 1: how can I tell if this system requires a shunt or not? Question 2: When gauge vendors offer a variety of "input ranges" does this refer to the 30 amp service I have? Exactly what does input range measure and how do I determine what I have so that I can have the correct gauge? Question 3: how will I know if the gauge provided comes with the donut (presuming its needed)?
I need a 3 1/2 inch square panel mount gauge if I want a correct replacement for the one that has failed.
