I made a comment in another thread a minute ago that reminded me to reserve ablative paint for our Bert.
Whoa,, I knew to much poisons and metals in a paint would be banned, just did not think anytime soon. I was w,, wr,, wro,, wron,, Incorrect..

Oh Sheet, My paint is no longer available, lots of new paints. I have been out of loop a few years now I'm bottom paint lost.

We are moored mostly in fresh water now days. We get to salt water a few times a year but always moving. We still use mixed metal zincs.
Were up river south of Palatka Fl. We bust out a few times a year to St Aug or further south.

What is the new & best ablative paint for dual waters bottoms next month?
I was thinking Pettit Odyssey 60.

I used to use BlueWater copper stuff and I got a killer deal direct from them, but they sold out to another company. Now I use Woolsey, supposedly made by Pettit. Copper % isn't up around 50, down around 37%, but I'm mostly fresh water anyway

Or go to Mexico or Bahamas and buy your paint....with zinc?!?

Is might be time to start making our own copper paint, like everyone used to in thee old days? You bought some copper powder and added some cayenne pepper for good measure. Ol' timers used to tell me about it all the time.

Bottom paint has a super high profit margin. There's got to be a point where people turn their noses up at prices....and $350 + per gallon has to be pretty close.
Of course, there aren't any do-it-yourself marinas around here anymore, anyway. Otherwise, I might be tempted to tinker.

I've used SeaHawk CuKote for years, works fine in Chesapeake Bay.

I like to mix about 20% of hot chilli powder into bottom paint, barnacles don´t like it hot and it´s perfectly legal.
:D

My one and only yard really likes SeaHawk Sharkskin. I just had mine painted, but I am not back in the water yet. Freshwater paint that can still go south they say. I called several references and all were positive.

call the company that made the paint that you were using and ask them what replaces it. it will probably be compatable and work just as good if not better
