I see that there are more than a few guys here besides me from Southeastern Connecticut. I just wanted to take a moment to remember a great Waterman who passed away a few days ago that I'm sure some of you may remember as well. Captain Cecil Brookes of the fishing vessels "WEST WIND" died a few days ago. He was a good friend to many in this area.A guy who was always willing to share information with young interested fishermen and by far one of the most colorful people I have ever known.
Cecil was known as the best swordfish harpooner there ever was in New London,a Charter Captain of over 40 years and when the Shad came up the Ct.river, spent endless cold nights netting them.
We shared the same finger pier for over 20 years and I will miss him dearly.
Hookem' up big guy! Tony
