A measurement if you can....

Measured LOTS of things today, except the width of the opening in the sliding lower helm doors....

If anyone is on a 53 of my era (maybe a 58 too?)

Mine is 21 1/2 inches but it would depend a little on where the door stop was placed, I have been thinking about moving mine a little to gain about 2 more inches in the opening. Not a project that is very high on the to do list. Congrats on the boat, you will love it. John

I have a friend who has his side doors completely off being refinished. He measured the exact opening from side to side. The measurement is exactly 25 inches wide with the doors off. His Hat is a 1980. I have not heard from Chartmaker yet.

Chartmaker just called. Their opening from side to side is 24 1/2” because there is metal trim on each side for weather stripping. When they measure from the bow of the frame to the door it’s 21 1/4. That will vary if your stop is closer or further back. Their hull number is #522. Hope this helps.

You can find your hull number on the transom. Starboard side at the top. Just in case you didn’t know where it was.

What is involved in getting the side door out of it's track?

Be aware that the door openings may not be completely square.

Was on the boat today.... Remove the stop to get the door clear without actuallu removing it (a few inches) and I'll have a skosh over 24". Fridge with the door off is 23.5 We proceed.
