  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
Ok, I am a Republican and was a delegate for Senator McCain at the last convention. However, my local city councilman is a Democrat and fellow member of my yacht club. His wife and my wife are good friends.

So I go to his fundraiser at the Yacht club last Friday (I think it is a good thing to be friendly with the city councilman from your own ward) and was shocked. These people were really happy and enjoying themselves. They were drinking eating, and very amusing. The Admiral and I (she is big Laura Bush fan) actually enjoyed ourselves. The attorney general (a Democrat) was in attendance and actually asked me to call him to have lunch.

We go to Republican events and people are angry and not enjoying themselves.

Do any of you have thoughts about this? I know the other side won the last election and all of that... but is there really a difference? Maybe they are actually happier people.

Your thoughts?

They're being coddled. They're finally getting their way.

They know the world will be a better place now that America is weakened and the world likes us better. The polar bears are going to be saved! Everything will be green. They've got lots of stimulus money being thrown at them.

Ya' want to shake 'em up a little, yell "Fox News" or if ya' really want to get 'em going, yell "Glenn Beck"!

I guess I would be happy to if I was getting my pockets lined by all the spendulous money while the rest of the country falls apart. Any similarity to Nero?

Trav:

Fox News maybe part of the problem along with talk radio. When I go to the gym in the morning, I see some angry guys sitting in the lounge (post work out so they should be feeling great) watching Fox News and very angry.

I am going to watch a video of Pollyanna with my grandchildren tonight instead of Fox News. I will see if I am happier. I will report back the results of the test tommorrow.

Cheers

What makes me happy about Fox is that finally, what I've been suspecting and yelling about for years they have had the guts to verbalize and not only report on, but back it up with video of these people 'in their own words'.

People like that who think they know better than the rest of us and who will 'nudge' or drag us in the direction that they want to go is enough to make one mad enough to get up off the sofa and do something about it.

I think people should be upset by the things that are going on.

I' ve always been told " Money won't make you happy"

NObama is coming to town Monday....

Going to give a speech at NAS Jacksonville, which is maybe 4 miles from me... I see a traffic jam in the making..... Oh Joy.....

The phrase, "ignorance is bliss", comes to mind. No Charlie, I wasn't talking about you.

Spin, I understand what you mean but read Sparky's last and you may have the answer as to why they seemed happy. Those poor lost souls that are uninformed can be happy because they don't know any better.

Actually what we are experiencing is a normal human reaction to politics. While I agree that Fox news is doing a good job of exposing corruption in politics, I also know that there isn't much I can do about it but get angry and bitch like hell to anyone who will listen.

A couple of weeks ago we took Bob Kassels 48 MY to Fla from the Chesapeake and we did it at mostly 8 K and anchored out most nights. In any event at no time did we turn on the TV for the entire 2 week trip. It was amazing how well I felt about everything. No headaches, or tension etc. My only concern was that we had enough food for the trip and enough beer to drink after we dropped the anchor.

Walt:

You are an elegant man indeed. I could not have said this better. I hereby nominate you for poet laureate of the Hatteras Owners' Forum.

However, I have one minor suggestion for improvement. If you are going to stop watching Fox News, and be more understanding of Liberals, you need to learn how to favor champagne over beer. In New England I seem to be surrounded by champagne liberals!

Cheers

They are not grumpy because they are spending other people's money.
