  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Well, the a/c seawater pump died. I have the March AC-5C MD pump with a Fasco motor. I would rater not shell out $500 for a whole new pump when it's just the motor. The motor looks like nothing special so I am sure that others have simply replaced the dead motor and swapped over the magnetic drive pump part. Only issue I have is that I cannot find a Fasco E42359 motor. If you know a source or know of a workable replacement (it has to have the 4 screws that line up to the pump housing) I would be eternally grateful!

Send it to depco or replace the whole thing

March makes good stuff. Worth the money.

Send it to depco or replace the whole thing. It also seems small for that boat

Have you checked with Depco Pump in Clearwater FL? They re the best when it comes to pretty much any pump. I ve gotten a few pump motors for them over the years

Not yet-thanks for the heads up.

Call Depco. I had the same problem anchored in Key West last month. They overnighted a new pump to KW West Marine for me to pick up. I sent the old pump back when I got home and they rebuilt and returned it.

I have two RW AC pumps splitting my AC's. So having a backup on board for the price of a rebuild is nice.

Anyone you talk to at Depco seems like they solve the problem from the boat owner perspective and will do what it takes to get you happy.

You might consider ordering a new unit from Depco, and after you install that, have them overhaul the one on which the motor quit. That way, you'd have a spare. Also, did you check Grainger and McMaster-Carr for a new motor?

Wouldn't this be a normal spare item you would carry ?

Yes it s nice to have a spare or space permitting have two pumps with a set of valve and selector switch.

I have the same model. I carry both a spare motor and also a spare “wet end” in case anything happens. I’ve found that sometimes when then they fail it’s only the capacitor that is mounted on the motor. I’ve brought to a motor repair shop and have had the electric side fixed for $50-100 then I’ve cleaned out the wet end while it was disassembled. I’ve also found the motors (I have two in my system) to be way way more reliable once I took the cover off the “pooka” that these pumps sit in (forward of port main engine). They run most of every single day in south Florida and, with proper maintenance (strainers and descaling), and the cover off the space they’ve been fine.
