86 52c Freshwater pickup question.

I am wanting to move my check valves as close to my freshwater tanks as possible. Should I go ahead and check my pickup? How is it attached to that 90 degree fitting that the hose is attached to? Thanks

I removed mine because I was sucking air (still am). I think it was soldered in to the fitting, don't remember, but it was easy enough to remove. I would go ahead and check it since it is not too difficult, just may have to remove an adjacent fitting or hose to give it room to turn. Mine wasn't the issue. I am suspecting a hole in the hose.
