  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
We currently have a 48 Ocean Yacht 2000 which I love but with a 5 year old, 16 Month Old, Dog, aging parents and a wife it is proving in-practical (love the 27 knot cruise!!). I messed up when I passed on a perfect 53 and a 63 Bertram MY (long story on that one). With this, I am looking for a ultimate boat to cruise LI & NE plus anchor in 3 Mile Harbor (we live off of the Genny).

Does anyone know the history behind this boat??? I love the classic look as opposed to the early 90s and while a 74/75 Sportdeck is my ideal I love a cockpit motor yacht for everything else. BTW I need 4 bedroom plus and looking for a captain/mate in the future as I get busier.

The one issue is docking but a slip maybe opening up in my marina that could take a 80' boat.

Gotta love creative brokers when it comes to Hatteras models/lengths. I’m flying into HH tomorrow to deliver a boat to West Palm Beach. At this point, I don’t know exactly how much time I’ll have there, but I’d be happy to do a walk-by if it’s close to where I’ll be and I have the time.

Ha! I agree with the brokers assessment. It does not appear in Harbor Town. We are just beginning our search for the next boat (wife hinted last night about stair cases verse ladders).

Ask the broker for the HIN, and you’ll know what it used to be via the brochures section on here where there is a breakdown of the model number in the HIN.

She sorta has a school bus vibe going on with that wide angle lens. :D

The broker's father Chris is an expert mechanic on Hatts and maintained his status as a Hatteras warranty vendor for decades. They have done several full refits. I believe that his techs maintain this one regularly, if its the boat I am thinking of. Shawn will know. If so it would likely survey well.
I use them also. As an example, they still repair the original alarm systems. I would check on insurance requirements for an 80.

That’s a lot of money for the ash interior and no stabilizers, enormous amount of room though.

jus' cause I can't afford it, but I deck-handed on a large yacht (118'), I must ask if you have you also considered the Burger yachts. There are nice examples out there, usually well maintained.

There was a similar, cockpit style Burger at Walstrom's, Cheboygan, MI., but has disappeared, so may be sold.

Again, in that size, Burger's are well crafted yachts.

I am a big fan of Burger Boats. But… I prefer a fiberglass hill verse aluminum based on the age of the boat. If the Burger was maintained not an issue but older than 1995 I would want a full scan on a aluminum hull. At this time I would prefer fiberglass for maintenance.

Hear, hear. Having owned both, a boat with fiberglass construction is MUCH less worrying and maintenance. Burgers are beautiful boat, but the speed at which an aluminum boat can decline is terrifying, given half a chance.

An acquaintance's family has two Burgers and I absolutely are obsessed with them. The captain always laughs when I want to see the engine room verse sit in the hot tub! Now they are legit billionaires so the maintenance is not an issue.

Honestly I love the 54 Motor Yacht but I want to be done with a boat that has most of what I need.
1. Giant out door space with staircase to flybridge
2. Cockpit or Sport deck (we swim everyday we are on the boat)
3. 4+ Staterooms

After this it is all about the maintenance of the boat and what I can do. I fully plan to re-power at some point so the old DD do not scare me.
