  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series II (1986 - 1991)
I have a 41c powered with 6v92 ta's with Garret turbo's. There's a bracket with a rod holding the weight of the exhaust riser up. The bracket has come loose and my riser has shifted down with the lack of support. I'll need to loosen the riser were it meets the turbo. There are 4 clips and bolts that hold the riser against the turbo. I'm assuming there's a gasket between the turbo and the riser. If there is one were can I purchase it? I'd also like to replace the clips and bolts. Does anyone know were I can source these items ? And is there anything I should be aware of when remaking this joint?
Thanks Jim

Are you talking about the output side of the turbo? I can't say for sure in that application but there is not normally a gasket used in that position. It is just a clamped fit between the flange of the turbo and the flange of the exhaust.

If the surfaces are true and not pitted, no gasket or sealer is needed. However, some folks use a suitable hi temp sealer for the interface. I have have removed all 4 of those assemblies/reinstalled them on my 8V71TIs and have not had any need to use a sealer and there are no exh leaks. But do what makes you comfortable.

Marine exhaust in Riviera Beach FL has the gaskets. No reason to replace the clips.

The flange style on your dry Air Research turbos are different than the Garrett wet turbos. The Air Research have no gasket.

Marine Exhaust has the parts. The wet turbos are different than the dry ones.

Check the surfaces for erosion; assuming there is no damage it's simple. If there is you need to address that to make sure you don't wind up with an exhaust leak.
