Woke up to a little trail of fluid leaking out of the flybridge steering shaft. What do I need to do to fix?
Thank you all,
Rob

Get a rebuild kit for that helm pump. Take it out and get it on a bench and take it apart and put in all of the new little seals and parts in that kit. Or pull it out and send it in to a hydraulics shop for the rebuild.

The pumps dissemble from the rear . Don’t do it on the fly bridge. The balls can fly out and the next place they will be is in the water . Replacement balls will be hard to get .Good time to change the fluid and flush the pumps.

Going through the same thing on my lower helm. Had the marina rebuild mine. No sooner did they put it back in than the steering ram sprung a leak. So now the ram is off getting rebuilt. How much you want to bet as soon as it's back in, the upper helm springs a leak?

I bought the seal kit and put in mine and never could get it to steer easily. No more leak but hard to turn. I never even got deep into the unit. Sent it off to Southern Charm and was flawless when it came back. I've done all sort of boat work through the years but will leave the helm kits to the pros.

I used Southern Charm too about 10 years ago on my Hynautic pump https://boaterstore.com/service.html

I originally rebuilt it myself, but had exact same problem Briankinley2004 did. Been flawless since Southern Charm rebuilt it.
