Hatteras Model
61' MOTOR YACHT (1980 - 1985)
I need to replace my bimini top and I have wanting to add side curtains/aft curtains to keep the FB clean. I like the look of the EZ2CY enclosures, but understand they are quite pricey? Can anyone give me an idea of what kind of cost I might be looking at? Maybe better to go with a new top and traditional eisenglass side curtains?

Not sure on prices but a lot of folks use 3 EZ2CY panels in the front of the FB and use regular stuff elsewhere . It can be rolled up whereas the EZ2CY cannot. So if you want to be able to open it that is the way to go . Fold the EZ up in the front and roll the regular stuff up on the sides...........Pat

I believe you need a hard top for the EZ2CY

You might consider Strataglass on the front and 40 ga. every where else. Mine pin up to the top rather than roll up although Strataglass can be rolled on warm days. i

EZ2CY is a trade marked product which uses acrylic (e.g. Lucite, Plexiglass) panels for the clear windows. Some canvas fabricators have begun using standard acrylic sheet, 0.080" typically, and making their own. Still expensive, but less than with the brand name. If you go that way, use Sunbrella fabric for longest life. Riri zippers are no longer available in the US. The best now is probably Lenzip.

Bob,

What's your take on Teflon thread. I had some stuff done with it and they claimed it outlasts everything else by years. One person claims it outlasted his sunbrella.

FWIW,
I use this stuff called Tenara it's a gore tex fiber thats coated with PTFE (Teflon) . I don't like to work with it but it is supposed to last 10 + years in the sun......Pat

I presume you mean Tenera from W L Gore. Yes, it is the best that I'm aware of. At one point, I was told Gore was willing to warrant an entire canvas job if done with Tenera. Sounds ludicrous, but the product is great, just a bit harder to work with and more expensive. My fabricator is finishing a job for me as I write, and he is using Tenera per my spec.
