  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I am in the process of buying another boat with 6-53ti engines with new turbos and after coolers. 3300 hours. What are the pros and cons of these engines. They have never been run real hard, I know the previous owner, they ran at 10 knots with daily run ups to clear out things. The boat is not a Hatt but I am also keeping my Hatt. This boat is in the Pacific Northwest, we will use it in summers for cruising and fishing. Thanks John

Are you leaving it in the Pacific Northwest? In case you do I know the area well. I worked there for 13 years. Just so you know they have 2 seasons up there. The rainey season and then August. Lol.

Yes we are going to leave it up there. We have 4 partners in the boat so we hope we can each get a few weeks to cruise each year. It’s a Tollycraft, 1990 40 foot sport fisher and the previous owner is going to stay as one of the partners, her husband just passed away. All of us have other boats at our yacht club in San Diego. John, it is in Polsburo.

A freind of mine had a 40' Delta with 6-53TI, 400 HP as I remember. Ran it a 2100 every where it went, 22 knots as I recall. And the engines did a good job.

Thanks Glory, yes that is the same engine.
