Do they have a warm glow or stark white light? I have some I bought that make the house look like a morgue, of course, their not in use. Ron

2700 to 3000 K (degrees Kelvin) will look like incandescent. Best change I have made to date was swapping out the halogen track lights for 2900 K LEDs. The difference in heat is the biggest benefit for us.

I have some of these, too, and they work very well. The 40w equivalent seems brighter than 40w to me. There is very little heat, which is a huge plus this time of year in a boat.

Perfect timing. Thanks! I got a pack for my Commander 42.

I have changed my boat over to these, and am working on the houses. My only problem is what to do with all those CFLs I now have lying around.

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered 5.

I installed these LED lamps on friday and all seems good. I installed 3 in the engine room and 2 in the stateroom. On saturday I was checking engines and bilge after a cruise to Annapolis and noticed 2 of the lamps were blinking. They would go off for a few seconds then come back on for 10 or so seconds. I tried tightening them with no improvement. So just to let you know these may be made for christmas and not for your boat.

I had the same thing happen. The lights are much brighter and cooler than the OE 25w heaters, but the blinking was disconcerting. I removed it, cleaned the contacts, and tried it again...worked fine...for now!

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to doing the same with mine.

Bad news...2 out of 3 of the 5-pack I got are "blinkers."

Can't trust chinaman.

Maybe it's a power source problem...ours is too stable, and it freaks out the LEDs. Maybe I should loosen the screws a bit that attach the wires...try to replicate the mainland east Asian power grid. :p

Let us know how they hold up in the engine room heat. Depending on the plastic used, they might not hold up that long.

Maybe the blinking is from poor solder joints expanding and contracting?
