58YF for sale with joystick control

I notice this 58 YF on YW that has a custom owner designed joystick at the lower helm. Anyone have an idea based on its appearence what it controls? I guess it could be a tie in to the electronics suite. I don't know as I would trust it for engine control. Your thoughts?

I've never seen anything like that and I have no idea what it is or what it does. And it isn't mentioned in the listing as far as I can tell. I think I'd ask the broker, and get ready to hear some interesting stuff, some of which may be true.

Unless I'm missing something, that's not a joystick. It's just a lever that does God knows what.

Passenger ejection seat?
Manual trim tabs?
Emergency dump for hidden drug compartment?

The "lever" looks like it's just to get it out of the way when not being used.

If I was guessing,... and I am,... I'd say it's probably tied to the autopilot so the capt. can steer with one hand and hold his cocktail with the other. Commercial boats have used joysticks for probably more than 30 years.

But I like the handbrake idea better- where can I get one of these installed?

Hi All,

I just couldn't take the suspense so I called the broker.

It seems the boat is owned by a man in his 80's who is well off and was also a pilot.

He didn't like standing up, and loved the joystick controls on the jets so he built this control stick.

Apparently it controls it all.

And yes he installed rain sensing windshields.

The broker also mentioned that the owner took the first offer that came in, reeeallll low ball, like 3 inches above the plate.
