  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
We have a 1977 58 Yachtfish and I am trying to document th electrical system. I bought the manual from Hatteras. While it has a number of informative drawings, it is quite short on wiring diagrams. My present focus are the terminal blocks in the port side engine room. A fair number of wires have a number, the others are blank. Wires number 13,15,18,302,303,305,59 for example, i have not been able to identify They disappear in a big bundle of cables Anybody out there with original drawings that would give me more info? Attached is picture of the terminal strip in question. Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't help that someone painted all of the wiring with white spray paint.

Spray paint would not be so bad. It's actually thick paint applied with a brush. Everything stuck together. Oh well. Just another challenge.

There has to be a diagram somewhere for that...maybe call them and ask if they have one for the 53?

You have the manual or the ships flow down wire diagram and print sets? Usually pages 24 x 32 inches in size.

It took ma a few cocktails to understand the Hatteras flow down drawings, but the wire numbers are in the prints, just not every wire shown.
Each terminal strip (as pictured) and junctions "->>- " are ID'd and then the wire numbers shown.

Contact Vicky at Hatteras to purchase the whole ships print sets.

I guess you have a more complete set of drawings then what I received from Hatteras. Those terminal strips do not show on any of my drawings. I basically only have the helms wiring. On those, the wires all merge into one arrow stating:" to engine room" I figured somebody might have better drawings and could send me pictures. Should be very similar wiring for the 53 too. The AC circuitry is fairly straightforward and somewhat agrees wirh the drawings.

I have ordered sets for many of our past Hatt customers. These sets belong to the boats so I really have nothing on hand.

I fear you do not have all that may help you and your boat.

These print sets cost a few bux and includes the ACv, DCv, plumbing, graving plans, drains lines, fuel lines, shaft specs and many option sets (windlass, spotlight, trim tabs) that were factory installed per hull number.

I look forward to using these sets when tracing lighting transformers and ships monitor issues. Saved many hours working on an engine sync option also.

OTOH, Maybe Hatt does not, did not or lost the print sets for your boat.
Then I apologize for wasting your time.

meteor64, I did not get that particular diagram with the drawings I purchased from Hatteras years ago. I agree that a 1977 53 MY might have the same wiring diagram. What hull number is your boat?

Guess what, we are hull 430. Must be very similar to yours.

I have a 76 YF, my wiring at the terminal blocks is pretty clean and numbered. I also have the 32v drawings. If these attachments aren’t clear enough let me know your contact info and I’ll send them. If you need to know what’s on a specific terminal let me know. Looks like I’ve a little cleaning up to do also.

Matt, I know this is an old post but I would greatly appreciate you emailing me the pictures of the long DC terminal block and other 32v diagrams. I did not have these prints in my boat manual.

Thanks very much!
