I have always wondered how the 58's with the 8v71ti's perform? I was on one with 8v92's and that boat would run +/- 16 knots at 2000 rpm. The 71's are the structurally better engine, but what kind of performance do you see?

I have 8v92 's on my 1987 58 MY. It has been explained to me that these boats just will not get on plane. Don't think fuel burn would unacceptable

I've heard that about the newer 58's with the 600hp 92's too, but they're a lot more boat than these narrow-body (to the extent a 16' beam is narrow) ones. The 1510 versions will plane with the 92's, or at least the one I went on did. I have always wondered about these 58's with the 71's.

15'10" 58 MY 8-71 will do 10 Knots at 1500 RPM
will plane if lightly loaded at 2000 to 2200 RPM
my engines are rated at 430 HP
Hope this helps
