  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I have an extra, fresh 55 gal drum of Rotella 40wt oil available. $595.00 which should be a great price. It is located in York,Pa and I can get it to Baltimore, Md. as well.

That's a good price (~$11/gal), depending on where you live. I had to pay $17-18/gal in Ft. Lauderdale for Rotella T early this year for oil changes in the mains and gens. I guess they price it higher due to the high demand in the boating capital of the world. When I got the boat home I noticed it was priced at $12/gallon in the New Orleans area. I paid $13/gallon at WalMart in September to change the oil in the mains and gens again. Unbelievable that the same oil is priced so differently in different markets. All of this was when oil was trading at ~$72-76/barrel. Now that it is $85-89/barrel that price is looking even more attractive.

taht's a pretty good price... i just ordered 10 5 gal pails of Rotella 15/40 at $65 a pail here in Miami ($13 a gallon). the straight 40 is usually a little cheaper

I've seen in as high as $20 a gallon at Newport RI marinas, when the local Napa store had it around $13 to $15.... worth the cab ride!

To the person that sent a PM, please resend-I deleted before reading!! sorry.

Paid $11 a gallon in five gallon pails for Detroit PowerGuard yesterday at Covington in Beaufort, NC. They said it is rebranded Mobil Delvac; I've always got good analysis results when I have used it in the past.

In Ft Lauderdale, I found the best price for Rotella was usually at the NAPA store on SR 84 near Route 1. They had it (40w CF2) stacked up in front of the counter along with their house brand (actually re-labeled Valvoline Fleet Plus) which I prefer since it more within DD's specs for ash than Rotella CF2 is. Flamingo Oil distributors in North Miami is another excellent source.

Still, that's a good price for Rotella, hope someone nabbed it!

If you have older DDs running multi-weight oil will cost you early rebuilds. The base oil 10/15/20 does not have the shear strength and you will wipe out the cam lobes or worse. It doesn't matter what the upper number is 40/50. Oil is one area I do not skimp on. The four stroke diesels are designed differently and can run the engineered oils. If you are south of North Carolina you shouldn't even consider anything but straight 40wt.
