Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
FYI

Last night a 53 Hatteras YF caught fire at Soverel Harbor (PGA and Prosperity) in Palm Beach Gardens.

It was unoccupied and per the news it was "for sale." I didn't see it on YachtWorld though it looked like it had a hydraulic swim platform.

It was docked next to a beautiful 58 Hatteras YF that is in fantastic shape. I believe the owner of the 58 was able to move his boat out of the slip and hope he didn't have significant smoke damage...

The F.D. put the fire out and I do not believe the 53 YF sunk but clearly had a lot of damage. The news gave two different reports, at first it was a 56' Hatteras then it was a 52' Hatteras... It was a 53 Yacht Fish...

I remember a time when news of a boat burning was a terrible thing. These days, it all depends on how it was insured. Hopefully there was no collateral damage to vessels which were not for sale.

Hey I take offense at that comment. It has religious undertones.

Please tell me you didn't have the listing on that one.

I sometimes go jogging through the marina, will try to get down there soon and check in on the 58 YF which was in the slip next door and see what I can find out!

That is very sad. She looked like a very nice boat.

Wow she looked like a great boat.

Yeah....she woulda been ideal for my purposes.

Here in Vancouver the fire dept tries to douse the fires with foam rather than water, seems to smother better and if lack of dock water it is good to have on the truck, not sure about clean up and possible sinking. We had a Meridian here have an electrical fire at the power input, did lots of smoke damage and was written off at 350 K, engine room was ok and fairly clean.

Well, this is a shame. "Pura Vida" was a very nice boat. I previewed her last Winter for a customer. I met the boat's (female) owner onboard who is an interior designer. The boat was beautifully decorated and very nicely maintained. This lady was a true yachtsman. She really knew what she was doing, and knew how to take good care of a nice yacht. The boat was for sale, but I'm sure she is heartbroken over her loss. This boat (and owner) showed true pride of ownership.
