Not that it matters a lot--quite a cheap price--but I think that may be a 50C since the only Apogee on the west coast generally in that size range and in Tacoma is this one:

The document must be wrong. Hatteras didn't build a 52 in 1984, Late 1983 is when they started building model year 1984 52C's and if you look at the HIN on the Doc the one you mention was laid up in June of 1984. On doc the last 3 numbers/letters are 84F and F is the 6th month of the year.
It must be a misprint on the doc.

Other than that, for $35,000 if you lived in the area, and had the "resources/know how", it could be a good deal. You could probably even part it out and make money.

Since the HIN info is on a form the owner fills out, it would be easy to get the wrong info into the database.

If the link I posted for the so-called 50C is actually incorrect numbers for a real 52C that is offered for sale, it probably was just ahead of mine on the production line since my date code is 84E and differs by only one digit 304 vs 303. I have read that Hatteras put HINs on as the boats sold, so maybe both went to the west coast and mine was picked up by a dealer first.

Interestingly, if someone dictated the numbers 52 sounds like "fifty-two" and 50.2 sounds like "fifty, two" (or "fifty point two"), so commas matter.

Too bad I don't need another project--that is a great price as the poster noted.
