Any one have a source they’ve previously used for larger size carriage bolts? Looking for 5/8x4 1/2

I haven't personally, however if I were looking for them I'd try McMaster Carr, the Nutty Company, and Jamestown Supply.

At some point in history, somebody installed Stainless Steel strut bolts on my Hatt. I had the struts off for other maintenance tasks and desired to go back to bronze.

Epic searches and phone calls eventually resulted in Sam's Marine being the best price and having exactly what I needed.

I didn’t think of Sam’s for bolts! I’ll call them. McMaster stops at 5/8x3” Nothing longer. they would have been my source .

Have you purchased from Jamestown lately? Since they entered the Total Boat era and closed the retail store their service and selection has diminished greatly. Biggest carriage bolt in silicon bronze they stock now is 3/8. Used to be able to get anything from them, it might have even come with half a century of dust on it no extra charge.

All else failing, you might try Chesapeake Marine Fasteners, which is a division of Fawcett in Annapolis. They might have them.

Well that's a shame. Did they sell out to some Corp weenies?

Find a local shop that still offers service before they're all gone. Scamazon is destroying the neighborhood sellers with the help of shoppers only caring about price.

It's not all about price or should you have a Bayliner not a hatteras.

I don’t know about corporate ownership. I do know that Total Boat products are simply labels with the actual product put out to bid. The Total Boat is a marketing campaign with products made by others from what I see.

Try a place called Fair Wind Fasteners, I buy all my bronze hardware from there but not sure they'll have carriage heads.

The bolts came from Standard Fastenings New Bedford. I got the last of their stock. $26 ea for the bolts .70¢ for lock washer, nuts $1.70. You’ve seen their product before in the small white boxes with the Sta/fas logo.
