Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
I just completed the job from Hell. Yes the refrigerator. The easy part is the installation where you size up the passageway and buy what fits. I the case of the 45C I used an Amana 15.0 cu model #ATB1504ARS that measures 25 1/4 D with the door off. It went in easy using only 4 haelthy men. The fun part is the removal. You first remove the 2 L brackets at the bottom then you remove the 2 blocks at the top that wedge the unit in, and no you can't get your hand in to reach them. The easy way to get them loose is to take a hacksaw blade and saw the screws that hold them in place. Now that you can slide the unit out and you realize that it will not make it through the door or up the steps to the salon. No problem just plug in your saw and make 2 smaller refrigerators that are much easer to handle. You might want to turn off the water supply if your unit has an ice maker, also my unit was wired direct without a plug so you'll neen to install one on the power feed for your new and hopefully long lasting refrigerator. Good Luck

I had no problem getting my refer out up the stairs. Take the door off and it fits - barely. It required two guys (me and one other) to do it, but we were able to get the old unit out without too much drama. I pulled the grab-rail at the galley steps, but that was simple.

The new one was SLIGHTLY smaller (the exact size is no longer available, at least around here) and there was no problem reinstalling. Like you, I found the original hardwired - there is now an outlet in the cove for it.

While refinishing the inside of my 1966 34C, I pulled the refridgerator out to paint the steel case and to better work the wood around it. I found after pulling it out, an AC outlet in the cove behind it. Assume that was original installation in 1966 but not sure. The original refrigerator was replaced with a Marvel unit which is not full length as the 34C catalogue shows. Now I have a microwave mounted underneath the refer on a shelf. Thought someday I might put an icemaker there.
