42C Hatteras

I think on that first boat, you're going to have your work cut out for you. Not much is original, the engine room looks shabby, and the interior seems to have been updated but not done well. I'd keep looking, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks for your help. The broker told me it was on YW for only three months. It could be thats all this broker had it listee for. I will continue to keep looking.

The second boat looks much nicer but those engines would be a deal breaker for me. Those look like 671 lay down or incline engines. Basically they're a 671TI sitting about 45° on it's side. Cooling and lubrication seem to be constant issues with them. many parts are different and not always so easy to come by. Years ago I walked away from a real nice 42 Bertam that had them. When I found out they kept having serious issues with them even after being rebuilt twice, I walked. Since then I've known two other owners with these engines with similar issues. Talk to a good local Detroit guy about them before getting too deep in a deal. Maybe there are fixes for these issues.

I have a 75 42c with those 671's and have never had an issue with over heating or lubrication to date, over 5k hours currently I have had boat 12 yrs and bought from a friend who had it over 20 years.
