Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
don't know if this belongs here or on the techy part, but. Fri, pm unhooked the motors, and put a new blade on the skill saw. To say I had second thoughts just before I cut the top loose would be a understatement. Made the first plunge cut and it didn't much matter what I thought. Sat am the crane guy shows up, of course it's pissin rain, which we havent had in weeks. Top came off, I'm soaked, motors came out, I'm still soaked. do some clean up stuff and it stops raining, figures. Sun a buddy comes over and we build a structure to hold the shrink wrap. Get that done, and yea the wind starts, fun fun fun. So the boat is covered and mostly shrinked. heading back today for more demo. pulling the rest of the wireing (just rewired the boat 4 seasons ago, and I'm saving all the fresh runs, yea I'm cheep) cutting the old salon floor out. Forward has already been demo'd. Glad the g-friend is off in Jersey visiting her family, makes for more fun for me and less agro about spending time with her.
Pic's to follow after I get someone with more online skills than I to post them.

cockpit will get the saw this week

Thuddddddddd

WooHoo! go for it big daddy! We did the sawzall on Boss Lady and completely gutted her. When you get ready to rewire, let me know I have miles of USCG tinned wire left over and you can get what you need for cheap.

Wire $ are outa line-- keep me in mind too! Still keepin' Paul busy? Havent seen any new pix for a while. Best wishes! ws

When I decided to gut the boat, one of the things I intended on getting rid of was the 32 volt system. The 24 volt system going back in requires heavier gauge wiring for all circuits so we went hunting and found a supply of marine wire for a good price, this was right before the current escallation in copper prices so the deal I got is even better now with scrap copper being over $3+ per pound. I have most colors and gauges. We will start the wiring redo next month so I will be able to tell you what I will have left over. I have plenty of some colors and sizes, and less of others. But I think I have enough for about 3 boats. If you are interested drop me a PM with your email and I will send you the list of what I have so you can plan. Paul has spoken for the remainder so if you want some wire get with me before too long.

Hey check out the post titled "splash" on the tech forum for some inspiration! 2 years on the hard and that boat turned out real nice. I have a butt load of wire, several miles, so I should have some left over. LOL :D

Thudd .... this is gonna be a sweet ride when you're done !!

Hope so, and I hope it's sooner than later. Have to see how far we get over the winter, building parts for bridge area.

Any idea of a time schedule?

hoping to have it functional (but not pretty) for late 07 season.
You having a good holiday? The proff and I are planning the trip for yellow fin season, so let us know what works best for you

Good Christmas, but man am I beat...too many late nights and early mornings. Was hoping to do some bluefinning, but the weather has sucked...only good day is tomorrow (hopefully Capt. Eric from this site will be fishing with us tomorrow. I gotta work  )

Whenever you see a good weather window starting around March ( Noaa ) and it fits y'alls schedule, come on down.

Rick

Tim-- got your pics this a.m.-- How did you pull the house? Was it bolted or glassed on? For giggles, what did it weigh?? ws

Flybridge was screwed on and I lifted that with a yard bull, tines under the hard top and of it came. Mine was semi hard enclosed and proably weighed 1000lbs. The house was glassed on and the crane guy said around 1200lbs. Ran a skill saw across the front windows and deck level, sticking shingles in to keep the cut open. then I plunge cut from the front side and started heading back stuffing more shingles in, using the little step on teh side as my guide, made a nice cut. next I sawzalled where the cuts overlaped. When the parcel shelf or whatever it's called at the front windows dropped 1/2" I had a little scare, 2x4 took care of that problem. Crane showed up straps thru the window and off it came.

wow....helleva project
