Hatteras Model
36' SPORT FISHERMAN (1983 - 1985)
Hi guys,

been a while since i have been on. I have an 85' 36 express. We are having bow rise issues, looking for ways to get the boat flatter. tabs are fully deflected down, and with crew and anglers in stern the boat still doesnt run very flat. We were thinking of making fiberglass section to go from the keel to the tabs across the tunnels to increase the stern lift lost by the tunnels. Has anyone tried this before, or have any other ideas on ways to increase the stern lift?

Im also having water coming into the area where the breaker panel is, cant figure out if it coming in through the windshield. Anyone had this issue?

thanks

adam

i added 3 inches of length (front to back) to my tabs on my 58yf. now i can put the bow down too far with full tabs. maybe add 2 inches, or add 3inches, and dont put the tabs down all of the way. i made the extensions out of stainless, and i mounted my underwater lights on the back edge of the extensions. bigbill

The tabs currently are run by single rams, im guessing your boat has dual rams. I have to find out if the single ram can handle the extra load.
thanks for the help

i have the same hull. I added a second set of tabs the only place they could be put, above the tunnels. tied them into the existing lines a very easy install did it myself while the boat was being bottom painted. very happy with the results. can get my bow down as far as I want with no problem.

thanks ill have to try that the next time the boat comes out of the water.

adam, i spoke extensively with the people at bennett trim tabs, and they said it was no problem with the single ram. they did recommend using limiters to stop the tabs from being pulled down in a following sea. the limiters that they make WONT work on your tabs if the rams are recessed into the hull. they are made for tabs that the rams are mounted flush on the transom. if yours are mounted flush, and need a set of limiters, let me know, i have a set that i could not use. bigbill
