  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' CONVERTIBLE (1965 - 1969)
I am a new member, and have a 1966 34 convertable. I am replacing my fiberglass tanks with aluminum becuse of ethanol. How do I securly anchor the new tanks? Do I have to replace any of the fittings due to dissimilar metals? I was not expecting to do this this soon.

Where if FL are you. I have a 1967 34c that I am going to have to do the same thing. Possibly we can get a deal on 4 tanks. There is a boat near mine with the deck opened for other reasons and the original tanks are exposed. Can get measurements an plot the exact location of all the fittings so the tank will drop in. New tanks will be a little bigger as i plan on using the top dimension which is about 1" overhang all the way around plus i think i will add 6" to the rear of the tank.

Answer questions are yes you need to change everything. The tank builder will do it all. Look at Yachtsurvey.com for mounting instructions.

Contact me via pm to discuss. My boat is in Merritt Island.

In the process of doing mine as well. I have a 34 DC and am changing from two berths in the aft cabin to one. I am going to put the tanks under a full/queen size berth in the center of the cabin. I have a local guy who will build the tanks for 7$ per gallon so about $1400 give or take. Would be interested to see what you guys decide for your projects as far as mounting etc. BTW if you haven't already removed the original tanks be prepared. Not a fun job.
