Hi, I need guidance, I 'm looking at a set of 454,365hp crusaders w/1.58 transmissions.could anyone tell me if this ratio transmission is ok or do i need a 1.91 ?my boat had a set of chrysler engines that are long gone.if this set up is ok would anyone know what kind of speed it might generate? Thanks Ray

I have 1.88:1 , I would guess you would have to match props to gear ratio. May want to discuss with a prop guy. You may need lower gear ratio to turn a larger diameter prop. These boats need torque to move.

Most Hats that have 454 Crusaders have the 350 hp. version. That should work fine for you. I have not heard of a 365 hp. Crusader. Is that a fuel injected engine?

yes sir it is fuel injected. thanks ray

I agree... my 36' aluminum Roamer (15,000lbs) has 330 Mercs with 2.57 velvet drives. I swing a
24 X 22 three blade prop. Cruise at 22mph @ 2800rpm. With a 1:88 or less youll need a real small prop and spin the pants off of it. Its better to have the shaft turn slower in my opinion for vibration etc. ws
