  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
One the side walkways of my boat I have 6 32v Perko lights. They are getting too hot and literally "charing" the inside of the fixture. Would it help if I switched the power source and fixtures to 12v? Or better yet 12v and LEDs?

I think you have the wrong bulbs in there. Look in your owners manual. It shows which bulbs go where. A lower wattage bulb will probably solve the problem.

I am using the bulbs that come with the fixture. You think I should go down on the wattage? Thanks

I would try that first and see if that is acceptable as far as light output. If so, it may solve the problem.

If those are the correct bulbs for the fixture, and they are melting the lens, I'd consider new fixtures of better quality.

Seriously
