  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
Looking for sources for 32v pumps that might be less expensive than West.

Also, I'm sure we'll need other 32v bits as well, such as blowers, light bulbs, etc, so any sources for things or vendors to avoid, would be greatly appriciated.

With regard to the pumps, will standard float switches work, or is there a 32v version of these as well?

Thanks,

-Ed G.

32v items are not easy to find, West stocks Rule 2000 and 3700 which is probably the best for our boats anyway.

mine came with 4 2000 and i added a back up 3700 in in the gen room. I've been procrastinating on adding another 3700 at the stern...

i havnet' found the 32v elsewhere yet, although i havnet' searched much. boatfix.com which is usually 20 to 50% cheaper doens't carry the 32v versions, unfortunately.

I use the standard swiches, I figure that amps are lower with higher voltage anyway...

Sam's carry a number of 32v items, check with them too...

Float switches are rated for voltage capacity. It's true that amps are lower at higher voltage, but you're carrying that same amount of watts and higher voltage electricity will spark across longer distances creating a higher potential for creating heat with the spark. Don't use a 12V switch in a 32V application. If you get the Rule float switches, get the old standard mercury type. See threads here on that (search for "rule fan").

Here's a place to search for light bulbs on-line http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/browse.html

I have been fairly lucky buying spare 32v stuff on Ebay. The problem is, you can't find it when you need it. Thats why I have a bunch of spare stuff!! Thats my 2 cents!

www.jammarine.com out of Miami also sells a good bit of 32v pumps and equipment. I have dealt with them and they are nice poeple.
