Thanks

We have two anchors for sale, a 66 lb Bruce (not a knock-off) for $225 and a Danforth 35H (hi-tensile 35 lb) for $300. Both are in excellent condition. The Bruce was acid washed and hot-dipped galvanized on 9/22/10. We're on the ICW in Portsmouth, VA.

Mr. Ewing

Thanks for your offer, but I believe your anchors are too much for my 45' Hatteras.

Justin

As primaries, they are not too much. You say "second anchor". What is it that you are looking for?

I have only one anchor -- 25 lb.
Need a second. I believe the one I have is too small.
If I got another anchor the right size, I would use the current one as an emergency back-up.

That Danforth that Diver Down has sounds perfect for your needs. 35 pounds is not too big in my opinion. And a good price too.

As long as it fits in the anchor shoot and can be handled up and down, is there such a thing as too big an anchor?

I agree that it's not too big for your boat. I've heard of plenty of cases (yours included) of not having enough anchor, but I can't recall hearing of a problem with too much. Of course there will be anchors that would be appropriate for 100 + footers but that's not the case here. If I were you I would re consider and buy the 35 lb anchor.
