Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series II (1986 - 1991)
So I just bought a 41 convertible, with 6v92s. She is a project, and has been on land for awhile. While in the bilge, I noticed a steel tank, on the port side of the fuel tank. Looks to be hydraulic oil, maybe 5+ gallons. There are lines that lead up to in front of the port motor, which are now just hanging...there was a place where something was mounted.....Any thoughts on what this is/was?

Do you still have the original anchor windlass?
I can not imagine anything else requiring hydraulic PTO.

5 Gallons????

Maybe clutch or engine oil change system??

Oh Wait, LubeFiner (or like) bypass oil filter? There one (or was one) on the other engine?

I'm typing out loud. How a bout some pictures to help our desperate guessing along..

Pre lube system?

Pre lube system?
Interesting idea.
However, Pre lube systems usually charged using sump oil. A 5 gal remote tank could over fill the sump. But, There could be some design were not familiar with.

I’ll get some pictures when back to the boat. I’ll also look at the windlass. I haven’t gotten that far yet

Thanks!

Could that just be the freshwater pressure tank? That's the only think I can think of that size.

Blue with copper lines...by the smaller pressure tank for steering fluid? Maybe the lines end where the house water filter housing used to be??

Hopper tank for engine oil? I have seen then hooked up in connection with an oil change system.

thats a possibility.

the boat has been on land for a few years….there were a few gallons of some sort of clean oil in bilge, then I saw this tank, with the line just hanging
