  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
40' DOUBLE CABIN-Series I (1986 - 1989)
I just replaced all the cabin lights in the salon and master bedroom. When doing the salon and lamp in the master next to the closet, I turned off the appropriate breakers to play it safe. When doing the 2 lamps over the bed, there was no breaker that controlled them. Therefore I killed all the power at the panel. When cutting one of the wires there was a spark and the radio muted for a second or two. I carefully finished the job and of course realized those 2 lamps were 12 volt. After completed they do not work and in addition the vacuflush pump does not go on in the master head. Any ideas where to look for fuses, etc?

did you try the 12 volt breakers?

Correction to my original post.....The vacuflush is working, not the lights. There is nothing tripped in the 12v panel.

Try new lights just in case they blew when it sparked.

I used a 12v tester in the socket with the switch turned on, no power.

not sure about your model but look in the engine room for a plastic cover about 4 inches wide by ten inches tall. my 1977 46 sf had theses and they covered up fuses. might be worth a look

My 12 volt salon rec cans are fed from a transformer under the gunnels and they are fused on the secondary side. You may have a similar set up. You wouldn’t get a tripped 12 volt breaker because the 120 volt transformer would still be working only the output fuse would be blown. Check and see if you have voltage at the switch that controls the lights and what voltage you have. My boat had 2 transformers one port and one starboard both under the gunnels.

Bob, If you have not already done so try replacing the bulbs. You may have fried them.
