Repower options ? , Cat , Cummins , Volvo ?

Yes, yes and yes

Your removing 12 L engines. Not sure of your HP tune.
IMO;
If you have to repower and travel far, Cats.
A Cat shop is never far away.
Not sure 11 L Cummins will offer the HP.
Volvo is overpriced per HP.

1) What will fit?
2) Who has Tier III engines of the proper output?
3) Price and availability?

I imagine the choices will be Cat, Deere, and FPT

Or rebuild current engines for 1/3 the cost of a repower 🤔, it’s a MY, not a speedy SF.

Many thanks , something’s to think about .

In reality most motoryachts put around at hull speed why not size the engines accordingly.

Because it is nice to be able to get on plane when needed to run from weather, get better handling in some sea states or make it somewhere with some daylight.

I considered B series when I repowered my 53 but then went with bigger C series for the above reasons.

As to the original question, it s hard to beat Cummins reman program… they re basically all new parts except the block.

Cat has launched a similar program, worth looking into it

I will say I am biased on this subject. I would highly recomend the Scania DI13 800hp engines. Though new to the recreational market, Scania have been in commercial marine for decades. And like the Detroits, got their start in trucking. These are tough and power dense. I will be installing them in my 64MY when the time comes. I have some excelent data on a 53 Convertible we did a few months back. Originally equipped with 12V-71s this boat preforms so well with these engines. You can also come see them in person next week at the Miami International Boat Show. These will fit the space, and do an amazing job for you.

Scania were the engines of choice on the large yachts built in Brazil going back to the early 90s.

Just a comment, a YouTuber I used to follow was in Green Turtle in the Bahamas and needed CAT parts. Local engine shop pointed at huge shop/warehouse, "thats my Detroit warehouse". and his mailbox- "thats CAT warehouse". 8 weeks to get CAT parts from US.
